Lions Open Tim Boyle's Practice Window
3 years agoThe Detroit Lions have opened the 21-day practice window for quarterback Tim Boyle (thumb) to return from Injured Reserve, according to a source. Boyle has been on the shelf since undergoing thumb surgery on Aug. 30, but he could return to Detroit's active roster as early as Week 10 against the Pittsburgh Steelers. David Blough has been serving as Jared Goff's backup so far, but the 27-year-old Boyle could take over those duties once he is activated from IR. Boyle was with the Green Bay Packers the last two seasons and served as Aaron Rodgers' backup in 2020. He's attempted just four passes in 11 games (no starts) in his two seasons in the NFL.
