Lazaro Montes Promoted to Double-A Arkansas
Lazaro Montes is being promoted to Double-A Arkansas. The Mariners' second-ranked prospect was hitting .268 at High-A with four home runs over his last four games before the promotion. The 20-year-old's 18 home runs, 50 RBI, .572 SLG, and .959 OPS led the Northwest League so far in 2025. While a 27.6 percent strikeout is on the high side, it is somewhat offset by his strong 15.9 percent walk rate. The 6-foot-5 slugger is coming off a 21-homer campaign in 2024 as a 19-year-old, and look for him to show off the prodigious power at Double-A. The left-hand-hitting Cuban could be knocking on the door to majors sometime next season, so dynasty managers should keep a close eye on how he performs over the rest of 2025.
