Kyren Williams Could Have Big Impact As Pass-Catcher
1 year agoThe Los Angeles Rams want to see if lead-back production is possible from running back Cam Akers, but both Akers and Kyren Williams will likely be featured early in the 2023 season. The touch distribution will be situational, depending on the weekly matchup. The Athletic's Jourdan Rodriguez writes that Williams excelled throughout training camp in the passing game, so he could have a big impact there for the Rams offense. Quarterback Matthew Stafford looked very comfortable targeting Williams as a receiver, and the Rams haven't had this kind of run/pass versatility in their backfield for years. The 22-year-old fifth-rounder in 2022 played in just 10 games due to injuries in his rookie year and had 35 carries for 139 yards while catching nine passes for 76 yards. Fantasy managers are probably avoiding the Rams offense as much as they can in 2023, but Williams could be a sneaky early season waiver-wire addition in PPR formats.
