Kyle Schwarber Clubs 41st Homer Wednesday
1 year agoPhiladelphia Phillies outfielder/designated hitter Kyle Schwarber went 2-for-4 with his 41st home run of the season, an RBI, two runs scored, a walk and a strikeout in the team's 5-1 win on the road in San Diego over the Padres on Wednesday. Schwarber led off the game with a towering blast, and it was his 11th home run in his last 18 games. The 30-year-old lefty slugger is batting under the Mendoza Line this year at .195 (98-for-503) and leads the league with 177 strikeouts in 623 plate appearances, but he's hitting .302 (16-for-53) with nine home runs, three doubles, 12 RBI and 17 runs scored in 15 starts since Aug. 21. Schwarber is now five home runs shy of tying the career-high in homers he set last year when he led the league with 46 in 155 games.
