Kevin Kiermaier Out Due To Back Spasms
1 year agoToronto Blue Jays outfielder Kevin Kiermaier (back) is out of Wednesday's starting lineup against the visiting San Francisco Giants due to back spasms. Kiermaier says he's day-to-day, so it doesn't appear to be too serious, although we'll keep an eye on his status heading into Thursday's series finale against the Gigantes. The 33-year-old veteran has missed the last two games this week. Daulton Varsho is making another start in center field and is hitting sixth on Wednesday against Giants right-hander Logan Webb. Kiermaier is performing well in his first season with Toronto, hitting .276 (54-for-196), but his counting stats (four homers, 18 RBI and eight stolen bases) leave a lot to be desired. As long as he stays off the injured list, he's worth rostering in deep-mixed leagues as a regular for this Jays team.
