Keith Yandle Pockets Two More Points, Continues Career Year
6 years agoFlorida Panthers defenseman Keith Yandle scored a goal and pitched in an overtime power-play assist on Saturday night as the Panthers beat the Capitals. Yandle now has 42 points in 53 games, including 27 power-play points which currently leads all defenseman and all but three forwards. Yandle's power-play proficiency is nothing new as he has eclipsed 20 power-play points in four of the last six years and tallied 18 power-play points in the two years he did not reach that mark. His career-best 0.79 points per game pace this season is new however and seems to be helped by an increased shooting rate of 2.55 shots per game, which is Yandle's highest pace over the past four seasons. An uptick in offensive performance at 32 years old is unlikely and even less likely to be sustained, but for now, Yandle remains one of the best fantasy blueliners in the league.
