Kaleb Johnson 2025 Fantasy Football Outlook: Johnson is a Perfect Match With the Pittsburgh Steelers
Najee Harris walk in free agency, the Pittsburgh Steelers drafted Kaleb Johnson in the third round of the 2025 NFL Draft. Johnson enjoyed a fantastic junior season at the University of Iowa, where he ran for 1,537 rushing yards and scored 21 rushing touchdowns. He also graded out well in several advanced metrics. Among 156 collegiate rushers with 100+ attempts, Johnson finished 24th in PFF rushing grade, 13th in PFF elusive rating, and 10th in missed tackles forced. It is worth noting that Johnson was most effective on zone-blocking rushing plays. There was some concern regarding his NFL future because of this. Luckily, he landed in an ideal situation as the Steelers ran the second-most zone-blocking runs in the NFL last year per Fantasy Points Data Suite. Pittsburgh did bring back restricted free agent Jaylen Warren on a one-year deal. He should remain involved on offense and could hurt Johnson's upside. However, with an improved offensive line, an ideal rushing scheme, a run-heavy offense, and Aaron Rodgers (hopefully) at quarterback, Johnson should deliver a fine rookie season for fantasy gamers. With a current NFFC ADP of 73.93 overall, he makes for a fine target as an RB2 or flex play.
