Josh Smith Still Out Monday
6 months agoTexas Rangers infielder Josh Smith said he's dealing with soreness/tightness in his "lower glute/upper hamstring" area and is out of the starting lineup for the fourth straight game on Monday against the visiting New York Mets. However, Smith said he feels like he's getting better every day and said he feels like it's precautionary. He's hoping to return to the lineup in the next few days. Ezequiel Duran is making yet another start at third base and will bat seventh against Mets left-hander David Peterson with Smith out again. Smith has run with his extra playing time in 2024 due to the wrist injury to Josh Jung. In 68 games in just his third year in the big leagues, Smith is slashing a strong .294/.384/.436 with an .820 OPS, four home runs, 25 RBI and four stolen bases. As long as he continues to see regular playing time, he's useful for his average in deep-mixed fantasy leagues.
