Jon Gray Dazzles Dodgers
5 years agoColorado Rockies starting pitcher Jon Gray had to face the best team in baseball on Monday, and to make matters worse, the game was being played at Coors Field while the Rockies were slumping horribly and found themselves in the cellar of the NL West. The entire deck was stacked against Gray, and he did the only logical thing. He threw his best outing of the year, playing with the mighty Dodgers hitters for eight innings, only allowing one earned run while his offense battered Kenta Maeda and friends. Gray struck out six and walked three, but the Rockies easily cruised to the victory, thanks in large part to Gray's stellar appearance. He'll get a home date with the Giants next, and while this win was fantastic, owners should be smart and assume next week will see the return of mediocre Gray that mixes these types of starts in with ones like the six-earned-run clunker he threw against the Giants in SF two weeks ago.
