Jon Gray Could Pitch Again On Wednesday
2 years agoTexas Rangers starting pitcher Jon Gray (back) said on Saturday that he expected to throw on the side on Sunday, and he could try to pitch in a Cactus League game as early as Wednesday. The 31-year-old right-hander was scratched from his spring start on Friday due to back tightness, but it was a cautionary measure and Gray doesn't appear to be dealing with a very serious injury. He made only 24 starts (127 1/3 innings) in his first year in Texas in 2022 due to multiple injuries, but he should be healthy for Opening Day, barring another setback with his back. When he was healthy last year, he was pretty effective, and Gray could be a real nice value pick for fantasy managers in 2023.
