Jets To Ride With Hot Hand In Backfield
2 years agoNew York Jets offensive coordinator Mike LaFleur said that the team plans to ride the hot hand in the backfield after acquiring running back James Robinson in a trade from the Jacksonville Jaguars this week. "Whoever's got the hot hand, you gotta roll with," LaFleur said. The move was made after rookie Breece Hall (knee) suffered a season-ending torn ACL last Sunday. The Jets could eventually have a near-even timeshare between Michael Carter and James Robinson, but the expectation is that Carter should lead the way by a good margin in Robinson's first game with the team in Week 8 against the New England Patriots. Third-stringer Ty Johnson could have a bigger role on Sunday behind Robinson if Robinson's snaps are limited as he learns the offense.
