Jacob deGrom Named Mets Opening Day Starter
Jacob deGrom has been officially tabbed as the team's starting pitcher for April 1 vs. the Nationals, per manager Luis Rojas. The move comes as no surprise as deGrom has established himself among the game's elite, having led the National League in strikeouts each of the past two years. The list of accolades with deGrom is plentiful, as his 38.8 K% and 2.70 xERA from last season help to propel him toward the first round in nearly all season-long fantasy drafts. Over the past three years, deGrom has combined for a 2.10 ERA, 188 ERA+ and 2.31 FIP, averaging 11.6 K/9 IP. Barring an injury, Washington is likely to counter with Max Scherzer for the April 1 contest, giving fans a tremendous pitching showdown right out of the gates.
