Isaac Guerendo: 2024 Fantasy Football Outlook: Hamstring Injury Sidelines Rookie For A Few Weeks
6 months agoThe San Francisco 49ers selected Louisville RB Isaac Guerendo (hamstring) in the fourth round (No. 129 overall) in the 2024 NFL Draft. While not having a remarkable amount of production in college, Guerendo turned a lot of heads at the NFL Combine after running a 4.33 forty-yard dash and posting a 41.5-inch vertical on top of measuring in at 6-0 foot and 221 lbs. The team recently signed star RB Christian McCaffrey to a new contract extension that will keep him in town for several years. Still, given the lack of other options on the 49ers' depth chart, Guerendo has the potential to be one of the best pure handcuffs in all of fantasy football should CMC miss any time. Guerendo will compete with veteran Elijah Mitchell to be the team's primary backup. Guerendo will turn 24 later this month and doesn't have much value in fantasy at this stage, but he definitely deserves to be on your radar all summer long just in case there is talk of him seeing the field more.
Update (8/7/2024): Guerendo suffered a hamstring in late July at the beginning of the 49ers' training camp. He is expected to be out for another few weeks and could miss the majority of the preseason, causing the team to bring back veteran RB Matt Breida on a one-year deal.
