Giants Plan To Use Franchise Tag On Daniel Jones
2 years agoIf the New York Giants can't get a long-term deal done with impending free-agent quarterback Daniel Jones before Tuesday's deadline to use the franchise tag, they plan to use the tag on Jones. That's where things appear to be headed now after the two sides have met the last few days at the combine, but there are still two days to go. After his season in the NFL in 2022, Jones is seeking an extension worth over $40 million per year. If they have to use the tag on Jones, it's likely that running back Saquon Barkley will reach the open market. Jones completed a career-high 67 percent of his passes in 2022 and ran for 708 yards and seven touchdowns, but he only threw for 3,205 yards and 15 touchdowns through the air.
