Giants Add Ty Weber, Carter Williams As Undrafted Free Agents
5 years agoThe San Francisco Giants agreed to terms with Illinois right-handed pitcher Ty Weber and North Carolina Central outfielder Carter Williams following the conclusion of the 2020 MLB draft last week. Due to the shortened draft this year, all 30 teams may sign an unlimited number of high school and college players who went undrafted for a maximum of $20,000 each. Weber (6-foot-4, 215 pounds) turned 22 in March and finished his college career with 12 wins and a 3.97 ERA over 260 2/3 innings. He was set to be the team's ace this year before the season was canceled. Williams (6-foot-3, 210 pounds) is also 22 years old and is the all-time hits leader at NCCU with 208. He hit .329 with a .477 slugging percentage and .410 on-base percentage across 157 career games.
