5/11:Colorado Rockies starting pitcher German Marquez got smacked around by Milwaukee on Thursday, surrendering 12 hits in just 4 2/3 innings. Right from the start, when Marquez gave up a solo home run on the first pitch of the game, he looked off. Marquez was saddled with his third loss in four outings and his third loss at home this season, as he allowed five earned runs and walked three while only striking out three. Marquez has frustratingly shown flashes of brilliance, like his quality start against the Mets last week when he struck out eight and walked zero, but they’ve been peppered by three ugly outings this year where he’s given up six or more earned runs in less than five innings of work. He’s still got potential, but Marquez should be avoided until he can develop some consistency.--Billy Stonick - RotoBaller
