George Springer Getting A Breather Friday
1 year agoToronto Blue Jays outfielder George Springer is getting a day of rest as the team takes on the Cincinnati Reds on the road on Friday. With Springer starting on the bench, Cavan Biggio will make the start in right field and will hit cleanup against Reds right-hander Brett Kennedy. The Blue Jays are hoping a day off for Springer can get him going at the plate again. The 33-year-old has really struggled of late, going 18-for-84 (.214) with a homer, four doubles, seven RBI, 21 strikeouts, three stolen bases and nine runs scored in 22 games (21 starts) since July 23. Despite the struggles offensively in the second half, Springer continues to provide valuable power and speed numbers for fantasy managers with 14 home runs and 16 stolen bases in his 463 at-bats in 2023.
