Gavin Sheets Active for Padres
Gavin Sheets (head) is serving as the designated hitter and batting fifth on Tuesday against the division-rival San Francisco Giants and right-hander Landen Roupp at Oracle Park. Sheets took Monday's series-opener win in San Francisco off after running into the left-field fence full speed in Sunday's win over the Pittsburgh Pirates and leaving the game early. The 29-year-old apparently cleared the league's concussion protocol and might only be dealing with a bruised ego after a face-first collision with the wall. While he's surprisingly been one of the Friars' hotter bats so far in 2025, Sheets has two hits in his last 18 at-bats over seven games to drop his season slash line to .266/.321/.492 with an .813 OPS. Sheets has provided plenty of pop with 11 long balls and 34 RBI in 177 at-bats. He's hitless in just one career at-bats versus Roupp.
