San Jose Sharks defenseman Erik Karlsson (groin) will not play in Thursday's game against the Montreal Canadiens. Karlsson is expected to miss Saturday's game as well as he has not returned to practice yet. The Swedish rearguard has dealt with a variety of injuries throughout the season which has capped his offensive production. He has three goals, 42 assists, and 20 power-play points through 52 games this season. The Sharks are firmly in a playoff spot, so there is no need to rush Karlsson back from injury. In his absence, Brent Burns will likely see a ton of ice time while Tim Heed will slide onto the second power-play unit.--Raymond Harrison - RotoBaller
