Erik Jones has won at Daytona. He led the final lap of the summer 2018 race and took the checkered flag. In 2019, he nearly won the Daytona 500. Jones and his then Joe Gibbs car started 27th and ended up in third. Since then, it has been a different story. Jones never got close in 2021 finishing outside the top-15. Last year, for Petty GMS Motorsports, he crashed in the big early wreck of Lap 14. Again, the fact that a wreck can happen anytime at Daytona makes gauging Jones' chances difficult.
