Eric Gray 2024 Outlook: Overlooked Piece In Weak Running Back Room?
9 months agoNew York Giants running back Eric Gray didn't have a significant role in his rookie campaign, rushing for just 48 yards on 17 carries and tallying 22 yards on six receptions. Saquon Barkley was the clear RB1, while Matt Breida operated as the RB2. With both players gone, many fantasy managers are assuming recently acquired running back Devin Singletary and rookie Tyrone Tracy Jr. are ahead of Gray on the depth chart. While Singletary is likely to operate as the RB1 to kick off the season given his $16.5 million contract, Tracy is a fifth-round pick just like Gray, so the two are likely to compete for the RB2 role. Neither is likely to have a ton of upside in what might be one of the worst offenses in the NFL, but deep-league fantasy managers and dynasty managers shouldn't completely ignore Gray in the late rounds of drafts. Even if Tracy beats him out before Week 1, he's an easy drop after being a free flier in drafts.
