Dwight Smith Out, D.J. Stewart Making Season Debut
6 years agoBaltimore Orioles outfielder Dwight Smith is out of the starting lineup on Tuesday. D.J. Stewart, who was called up from Triple-A Norfolk on Tuesday, is starting in right field and is batting six against Tigers left-handed starting pitcher Matt Boyd. Stewart, a former first-round pick and the team's No. 15 prospect, was hitting a cool .316/.425/.586 with eight home runs, 35 RBI and four steals in 43 games on the farm. His blend of power and speed could play in deep mixed and AL-only leagues if he sees enough playing time. His presence on the roster could hurt Smith, who has cooled off after a hot start.
