Drew Pomeranz To Be Shut Down For A Week
4 years agoSan Diego Padres reliever Drew Pomeranz (shoulder, lat) will be shut down for a week after experiencing lat tightness during his recovery from the IL. Pomeranz had progressed to facing live batters over the weekend but the setback will obviously delay his return to the bullpen. The left-hander hasn't pitched since May 9 and held a 1.98 ERA, 1.17 WHIP and 36 percent strikeout rate over 14 appearances as the Friars primary setup man. Reliever Tim Hill will continue being the southpaw of choice in high-leverage situations while Austin Adams and Emilio Pagan will handle late-inning work ahead of closer Mark Melancon. All aforementioned arms can be omitted for fantasy purposes outside of deep holds leagues.
