San Diego Padres relief pitcher Drew Pomeranz recorded his 10th hold of the year Friday, allowing just a walk while striking out one in the eighth inning of a 5-2 victory over the Miami Marlins. Pomeranz has appeared in just 21 games this year after missing time due to injury, and he's pitched to an outstanding 1.80 ERA and 1.20 WHIP with 25 strikeouts in 20 innings. He figures to be one of the top holds options in the majors, and would be a primary option to inherit the closer role should Mark Melancon falter or face injury.
