Dominic Smith A Late Scratch Sunday
6 years agoThe New York Mets had Dominic Smith penciled in to bat second and play left field against Merrill Kelly and the D'backs Sunday but scratched him with a sore thumb. It's unclear when he hurt his thumb, but the team stated he will be available off of the bench. Aaron Altherr is taking over in left batting eighth while J.D. Davis moves up to the two-hole. Smith has hit well this season with a .365 average and swatting two homers in his last three starts. He's also earned a promotion to the top of the batting order making him a viable mixed-league starter. He should be considered day-to-day and will likely return when the Giants come to town for a series starting Tuesday.
