Curtis McElhinney The Probable Starter For Carolina Friday Night
Carolina Hurricanes goaltender Curtis McElhinney looks to be in line to make his team debut Friday night, with the Canes finishing off an early back-to-back set at Columbus. McElhinney played 85 games for the Jackets in 2013-2017, so he'll be back in familiar surroundings. The 35-year-old goalie had a great year in Toronto last season, posting an 11-5-1 record in 18 games, allowing 2.14 goals per game with a .934 save percentage, but he was waived by the Leafs this week after Garret Sparks outplayed him during training camp. McElhinney hasn't enjoyed facing his former club thus far, going 1-5-0 in eight appearances with a 3.42 goals-against average and a .887 save percentage.
