Cowboys Use Franchise Tag On Dak Prescott
5 years agoThe Dallas Cowboys placed the franchise tag on quarterback Dak Prescott on Monday. He becomes the 11th quarterback in NFL history to receive the franchise tag, but it's the Cowboys first time using the tag on a QB. Prescott will receive a projected salary of $31.6 million for the 2020 season, and the two sides have until July 15 to work out a long-term deal. Dallas used the exclusive franchise tag, which will prevent him from hitting free agency. It remains to be seen if Prescott will report to the offseason program, which is tentatively scheduled to begin on April 6. Whenever he does sign a long-term deal, he'll likely become the highest paid quarterback in the league. Prescott should be seen as a high-end QB1 in fantasy, although his ceiling would take a hit if wide receiver Amari Cooper leaves in free agency.
