Colts Pushing For Alec Pierce To Compete For Starting Spot
3 years agoThe Indianapolis Colts are pushing rookie wide receiver Alec Pierce to compete for a starting role early on in his first NFL season. Pierce's vertical abilities and versatility bode well for his chances of grabbing a role early on, and his skill set fits well with what the Colts want to do on offense. "Alec (Pierce), one of the things we like about him is he's a very smart guy. He really has learned the offense quickly," head coach Frank Reich said. Pierce will have to compete with guys like Ashton Dulin and Parris Campbell, but the Colts offense could be extremely multiple with Pierce working both outside and in the slot alongside Michael Pittman Jr. With new quarterback Matt Ryan in town, Pierce could certainly make some noise in his rookie campaign for fantasy managers if he wins the No. 2 job.
