Chris Taylor 2022 Player Outlook: Better In Real Life, Too Expensive In Fantasy
3 years agoThe Dodgers' utility man had another productive season in 2021, hitting 20 homers with 13 steals and a .254/.344/.438 slash line in 582 plate appearances. That inspired enough confidence for the Dodgers to quickly re-sign him as a free agent, and he will figure to play another very prominent role for this team as Corey Seager departs to Texas. For fantasy purposes, he wasn't great in anything besides runs scored (92, but 76 of those were before the August addition of Trea Turner). Over the last two months of the season, Taylor hit just .187/.263/.293 with 16 runs, three homers, and three steals. His final season line seems like a pretty good indicator of what to expect in 2022, which is a mediocre fantasy player. There is a chance he could find himself at the top of the lineup once again now with Seager gone and some other question marks still being sorted out, which would be a big plus but it's not very likely happen from where we sit right now. With all this said, Taylor's ADP of 146 seems too high given that he's pedestrian in both the homers and steals categories. The batting average is also up in the air as he struck out a high clip of 29% in 2021. At this price, it would be best to leave Taylor for someone else in your league to pick up.
