Phoenix Raceway has been a great track for Chase Elliott over the years, as he won the 2020 NASCAR Cup Series Championship here back in 2020 and has an average finish of 11.9 over 14 career starts in the desert. For whatever reason, though, Elliott's No. 9 Chevrolet hasn't been that great at this track this weekend. In addition to posting a disappointing 21st-fastest lap during practice at the track on Friday, Chase ended up 20th-fastest in qualifying on Saturday, which is where he will start from when Sunday's Championship Race goes green. Although he did start from back in 19th and lead 50 laps in last year's spring race here at Phoenix, it looks to be a tough task for Chase to repeat that performance this time around. Although he still has top-10 finishing potential on Sunday, it's nowhere near a guarantee, and it's going to take a lot for NASCAR's most popular driver to contend for the win. Elliott will likely have his first winless season in the Cup Series since 2017 when it's all said and done.--Jordan McAbee
