Cam Newton's Arm Strength A Concern?
3 years agoThe Carolina Panthers are open to bringing quarterback Cam Newton back next season, but they want to see how the 32-year-old former MVP performs down the stretch with the offense tailored to his strengths. Newton is still learning the nuances of the offense, but many are skeptical that his diminished arm strength will limit what the team can do offensively. He looked good in the Week 11 loss to the Washington Football Team, but a 27-yard touchdown to running back Christian McCaffrey was Newton's only completion over 19 yards. Head coach Matt Rhule insisted it was a case of offensive coordinator Joe Brady choosing not to stretch the field rather than Newton's inability to go deep. There will continue to be questions about whether Newton's arm is strong enough to succeed deep down the field, but for fantasy purposes, his legs alone put him in the QB1 streaming picture, especially this Sunday against the Miami Dolphins.
