Cam Akers 2025 Fantasy Football Outlook: Can Akers Resurrect His Career in New Orleans?
Veteran running back Cam Akers recently signed a one-year deal with the New Orleans Saints. Akers has bounced around the league since the Los Angeles Rams traded him to the Minnesota Vikings in 2023. He hasn't been particularly effective either since tearing his Achilles tendon in the 2021 offseason and then suffering a second Achilles tear during the 2023 season. Akers will now battle Kendre Miller and Devin Neal for the RB2 job behind starter Alvin Kamara. Miller has struggled to stay healthy, and Neal is a sixth-round pick. There is an outside chance Akers could emerge as Kamara's backup, but there's also a decent chance he doesn't make the Saints' final roster. Either way, Akers carries little fantasy value entering 2025 as the New Orleans offense is likely to struggle with some combination of Tyler Shough and Spencer Rattler starting at quarterback.
