Buccaneers Think Highly Of Baker Mayfield
2 years agoAccording to former Tampa Bay Buccaneers head coach Bruce Arians, quarterback Baker Mayfield is better than any of the QBs that were drafted this year, including Bryce Young, who was taken first overall by the Carolina Panthers, and C.J. Stroud, who went second overall to the Houston Texans. But Mayfield, who won the Heisman Trophy and was drafted first overall by the Browns in 2018, has been seen mostly as a bust so far in his NFL career. He suffered a torn labrum in his right shoulder in 2020 and regressed after his best season in the league. Mayfield lost his job in Carolina in 2022 and was released, ultimately finishing the season with the Rams. Arians likes Mayfield's "moxie" as he looks to compete with Kyle Trask for the starting job in 2023 in Tampa. The Bucs like Trask a lot as well, so there's no telling who will win the job this summer.
