Brooks Lee Unlikely To Make Opening Day Roster
12 months agoMinnesota Twins shortstop prospect Brooks Lee is unlikely to earn a spot on the major-league roster directly out of spring training in 2024. The Athletic's Aaron Gleeman views the situation as similar to Edouard Julien's last spring, when coaches were buzzing about Julien to the point a midseason call-up was inevitable. The Twins would love it if Lee crushed Triple-A pitching for a couple months and forced the issue, but if the need arises before then, the Twins won't hesitate to turn to the 22-year-old prospect like they did with Julien in 2023. Lee is currently the team's No. 2 prospect, per MLB Pipeline, and has a bright future in the big leagues with Minnesota. He has excellent contact skills and also has the ability to drive the ball with authority from both sides of the plate. Lee should already be rostered in all dynasty leagues and is worth stashing in deep mixed leagues in spring drafts as well.
