Brandon Bolden Set For A Bigger Role?
3 years agoNew England Patriots running back Brandon Bolden, usually a cog on special teams, was forced into more offensive action in the Week 3 loss to the New Orleans Saints than he had seen in almost six years. His chief purpose in the backfield in the second half was to replace James White's (hip) pass protection. Damien Harris has shown that he's not ready for those responsibilities; he's allowed pressure on 28.6 percent of the snaps he's been engaged in pass protection this year. Bolden played 46 percent of the offensive snaps, the most of the Pats RBs, as New England was behind by multiple scores. He caught three of his four targets for 23 yards and carried the ball three times for minus-one yard. Bolden might be worth a waiver flier in deeper PPR leagues with White expected to miss multiple weeks. This is also a reminder that Harris will need positive game script to remain on the field on early downs.
