Brad Ziegler Gives Up Three Runs to Earn Loss Saturday
7 years agoAfter not allowing a run over his last two appearances, Miami Marlins closer Brad Ziegler gave up three runs to the Nationals on Saturday to earn his fourth loss of the season. Ziegler managed to get only two outs while allowing the three runs on four hits and a walk while striking out one. While this outing gives him an 18.92 ERA over his last four appearances, this is pretty much what to expect from Ziegler based on his performance this year — terrible outings surrounded by several scoreless innings with little to no strikeouts. It seems like Ziegler still has a solid hold on the closer role for now, but owners should keep an eye on Kyle Barraclough, who seems to be next in line for saves and has been putting up significantly better numbers than Ziegler.
