Blue Jays Talking With Michael Brantley, Justin Turner
4 years agoThe Toronto Blue Jays have been in contact with free-agent outfielder Michael Brantley and third baseman Justin Turner. Toronto already re-signed lefty Robbie Ray and are expected to be among of the most aggressive teams this winter. With Vladimir Guerrero Jr. moving to first base last year, the Blue Jays have a hole at the hot corner with Travis Shaw being a non-tender candidate. Turner slashed .302/.382/.503 (139 OPS+) with 116 home runs the last seven years with the Dodgers. Lourdes Gurriel Jr., Randal Grichuk and Teoscar Hernandez are the team's current outfield, but an acquisition of Brantley would increase the likelihood of a trade involving one of the incumbent outfielders.
