The Toronto Blue Jays and New York Mets would seem to be the favorites to sign free-agent outfielder George Springer this winter. ESPN's Jeff Passan wrote that when it comes to Springer, "executives believes this is a two-team race" between the Blue Jays and Mets. Both teams are looking to improve and have a need in center field, where free-agent options are limited beyond Springer and Jackie Bradley Jr. In particular, the Mets may be the favorites behind new owner Steve Cohen. The Mets were engaged in talks with Springer several weeks ago, and he's expected to land a five-year deal as the top free-agent bat on the open market this offseason. The 31-year-old would likely serve as the Mets leadoff hitter in 2021 and beyond.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBallerRead More News
