Billy Hamilton Scores From Second On Sac Fly
6 years agoKansas City Royals speedster Billy Hamilton is super fast, and for some reason, outfielders on other teams seem to keep forgetting that. In Tuesday night's loss against the Mariners, Hamilton bailed teammate Adalberto Mondesi out on a fly ball to center by showing off just how fast he can fly. When Seattle center fielder Mallex Smith awkwardly fielded a warning-track fly in the bottom of the third, Hamilton took off for third. Smith decided to take a moment to gather his thoughts after the catch, and that was all it took for Hamilton. Instead of stopping at third, Hamilton poured on the speed and covered the last 90 feet in just 3.12 seconds. A head-first slide helped seal the deal, and Mondesi was credited with a sac fly and RBI instead of a run-of-the-mill fly ball to center. Hamilton hasn't proven to be a game-changer for KC yet, but as part of what is likely the fastest roster in the game, he should continue to put a lot of pressure on opposing defenses.
