Austin Nola Headed To Injured List
4 years agoSan Diego Padres manager Jayce Tingler disclosed that catcher Austin Nola (knee) is headed to the IL and will miss at least a couple weeks. Nola last played on May 24 and is suffering from a slight knee sprain. The 31-year-old missed the first month of the season with a fractured finger and had recorded a .699 OPS with a homer in 59 plate appearances. Expected to be a top-10 fantasy catcher, Nola has been frustrating to roster, but he should avoid being dropped where possible. Backstop Victor Caratini will reassume the majority of opportunities and is an option in two-catcher formats with three long balls. The Friars will probably call up prospect catcher Luis Campusano who struggled with the squad earlier this year, going 3-for-34 (.088 average) with 11 strikeouts. He's off the fantasy radar until he proves he belongs in the majors.
