Austin Gomber To Throw Simulated Game Wednesday
3 years agoColorado Rockies left-hander Austin Gomber (forearm) had a successful two-inning simulated game last Saturday while throwing around 35 pitches, according to manager Bud Black. Gomber is scheduled to throw another session on Wednesday in Denver and could go on a rehab assignment as early as this Friday. The 27-year-old southpaw left his start on June 20 with forearm tightness, but barring setbacks, he should be able to return to the starting rotation by the end of the month. Gomber had an ERA under 2.00 in just 29 innings last year and has a decent 3.68 ERA, 1.07 WHIP and 8.7 K/9 in 78 1/3 frames over 15 starts so far in 2021. Interestingly, Gomber has been much better at home at hitter-friendly Coors Field (1.48 ERA) than he has been on the road (5.06 ERA).
