Anthony Santander Hits The Pine Monday
1 year agoBaltimore Orioles outfielder Anthony Santander is not in the starting lineup Monday versus the Houston Astros and right-hander Justin Verlander. It was a tough day at the plate on Sunday for Santander as the 28-year-old went 0-for-5 with three strikeouts despite his club pulling off a key extra-inning victory over the visiting Tampa Bay Rays. Despite the off day on Sunday, the righty-swinging outfielder has had a nice season with a .252 average alongside 27 home runs, four stolen bases, and a .796 OPS across 141 appearances, production that grades out 18% above the league average, as per his 118 wRC+. Aaron Hicks will take over in right field and hit sixth against Verlander Monday in Houston.
