Andrew Cashner Takes Loss On Middling Pitching Performance Friday
Andrew Cashner earned his seventh loss of the season Friday against the Yankees. The righty gave up three runs on nine hits and a walk with four strikeouts through six innings. He now owns a 2-7 record on the season. While his offense does not provide much support, Cashner hasn't helped himself, posting a 5.02 ERA with a less-than-average 7.87 K/9 rate and a 4.34 BB/9 rate in 66 1/3 innings pitched. He is also tied for the fourth-highest BABIP allowed in baseball (.342), making things even more difficult for him given his low strikeout rate. While Cashner is slated for a favorable matchup against the Blue Jays next Thursday, fantasy players may be wise to seek other options for their starting lineups.
