Toronto Blue Jays second baseman Andres Gimenez (ankle) is expected to begin running the bases by Friday in Toronto, according to Arden Zwelling of Sportsnet. Gimenez could begin a minor-league rehab assignment shortly after that if all goes well. The 26-year-old infielder has been out since early July with a sprained left ankle, but if he doesn't have any setbacks, he could be cleared to come off the 10-day injured list by the middle of next week. When fully healthy, Gimenez is the regular starting first baseman for Toronto, although he's a better defender than he is on offense. The Venezuelan left-handed hitter is batting just .218 (46-for-211) on the year with five home runs, 23 RBI, 26 runs scored and 10 stolen bases, making him mostly a middle-infield depth piece for his modest speed in AL-only fantasy formats.--Keith Hernandez
