Alex Verdugo Removed As Precaution Wednesday
2 years agoBoston Red Sox outfielder Alex Verdugo (groin) was removed from Wednesday's game against the Seattle Mariners as a precaution due to left-groin tightness. It doesn't sound like Verdugo's injury is very serious, but the Red Sox weren't taking any chances with one of their best hitters. Boston has an off day on Thursday, too, so the 27-year-old left-handed hitter could be back in action as soon as Friday. Fantasy managers should consider him day-to-day for now. Before leaving the game on Wednesday, Verdugo went 1-for-2 with a double and a run scored and was replaced in right field by Raimel Tapia. Verdugo entered the game with a strong .303/.378/.491 slash line with 14 doubles, a triple, five home runs, 18 RBI, three steals and 35 runs scored in 42 games played for the BoSox.
