1 year agoWashington Redskins quarterback Alex Smith (leg) is now battling an infection related to the surgery he underwent to fix a broken fibula and tibia, according to sources informed of the situation. It's unclear if the infection will jeopardize the rest of Smith's playing career at this time. Smith wasn't playing at his best this year in his first year in Washington, but the terrible injury could make it tough for him to play in the NFL again when he'll turn 35 next May. Colt McCoy also fractured his leg on Monday night, forcing Mark Sanchez into the starting role over the final four games of the season.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
