Montreal Canadiens forward Alex Newhook (lower body) left Thursday's 7-0 loss to the Dallas Stars early in the second period. He was unable to carry on after crashing hard into the boards. Newhook was assisted off the ice by his teammates. The 24-year-old has been a significant offensive contributor for the Canadiens, posting six goals and six assists in 17 outings. He has worked on the third line and the second power-play unit. Canadiens head coach Martin St. Louis didn't have an update on Newhook after the game, saying he was still under evaluation. As a result of the injury, Newhook may miss his first game of the season on Saturday against the Boston Bruins.--Taavi Pailk
