Alex Bregman Still Dealing with Quad Injury
Alex Bregman (quad) returned on July 11 from a quad strain that caused him to miss 43 games. However, he's playing at less than full strength, according to Chris Cotillo of MassLive. Cotillo notes that the team has instructed Bregman to pick his spots to run the bases at full speed, prioritizing his presence in the lineup over all-out hustle. In 22 plate appearances since returning from the injury, Bregman is hitting .227 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs scored. In 248 total plate appearances this season, the 31-year-old Bregman is hitting .292/.371/.539 with 12 home runs, 38 RBI, and 34 runs scored. Since speed was not a huge part of his profile to begin with, Bregman's injury limitations should not impact his fantasy outlook significantly. However, he may suffer a bit in runs scored, and he could be at an elevated risk of re-injury.
