Alex Bowman Advances To The Round Of 12 After Top-10 Run
3 months agoAlex Bowman placed ninth at the end of Saturday's Bass Pro Shops Night Race at Bristol Motor Speedway. Starting from the first position, Bowman was one of the race's top performers in the early portion. In the first stage, Bowman led the opening 34 laps until his Hendrick Motorsports teammate, Kyle Larson, overtook him for the lead. The No. 48 Chevrolet driver would hold strong against the rest of the field, however, and placed second at the end of the first stage, earning nine stage points. In the second stage, Bowman faded from the top 5 as other drivers outpaced him with faster cars, ending in the seventh position and capturing more stage points. This would allow Bowman to lock himself into the Round of 12 and advance further in the playoffs. In the race's final stage, although Bowman avoided crashing his car and making mistakes on pit road, he slipped further back in the Top 10 as other drivers passed him. This would result in Bowman's fifth career top-10 finish at Bristol and scoring consecutive top-10s at the site for the first time since 2018. Bowman will be one to watch with the Cup Series next visiting Kansas as he has nine top-10 finishes in 17 races at the Round of 12's first site.
