AJ Dillon 2023 NFL Player Outlook: Touchdown Dependent Flex
2 years agoIt took a long time for Green Bay Packers running back AJ Dillon to rev his engine during the 2022 fantasy season, but he closed the season strong by scoring six touchdowns in the last six games. He rushed for 770 yards on 186 attempts and seven touchdowns while catching 28 of 43 targets for 206 yards over 17 games. Entering year four of his career, Dillon continues to play second fiddle in Green Bay's backfield. The former Boston College Golden Eagle has a strong grip on the Packers' red zone role, doubling Jones's rush attempts inside the 10-yard-line (16 to 8). Jordan Love inherits an offense that's targeted their running backs as much as any, but after drafting three pass catchers in April, Dillon's target share is due to drop. Aaron Jones continues to produce and shows no sign of slowing down despite approaching age 30. Dillon is the less efficient of the two. Between the inefficiency and lack of pass-game involvement, the 25-year-old's ceiling is incredibly low, with Jones healthy. He's averaged 11 rushes per game over the past two seasons, supporting a healthy fantasy floor. Nonetheless, AJ Dillon is a touchdown-dependent flex. He's going as the RB31 according to his ADP and is appropriately rated there.
